The snowfall that started on the 21st of January, 1990 was one of the larger events of the winter. The storm was born over the lower peninsula of Michigan on Saturday the 20th. The low quickly moved east and had was impacting New England early on the 21st. Snow was heavy and in Massachusetts alone there were three areas of 10 inch accumulations. The Cape was spared the heavy snow for the most part, with Chatham reporting 3 inches of snow.
